Pastoral Care
The ministerial team in the parish consists of two ordained people, two licensed lay ministers and five Lay Pastoral Assistants.
- Canon Ann Philp: (Priest-in-Charge)
- Rev Jo Naish: (Curate)
- Hugh Keatinge: (Lay Minister)
- Sylvia Parrett: (Lay Minister)
- Celia Edwards: (Lay Pastoral Assistant)
- Hazel Lee: (Lay Pastoral Assistant)
- Mike Lee: (Lay Pastoral Assistant)
- Suzanne Waters: (Lay Pastoral Assistant)
- Julia Wilkins: (Lay Pastoral Assistant)
All of us do pastoral visiting. Please keep us informed if anyone is ill or is in need of some kind. Please tell us if you are going into hospital. Various of us have other responsibilities also. For example:
- Ann, Sylvia, Celia and Suzanne are school governors.
- Mike is a churchwarden.
- Julia does some follow up work after baptisms.
- Suzanne is in charge of our work with young people and organises the Sunday Club and workshop days for children.
- Hugh edits The Bridge and has special links with the armed forces.
- Jo is a qualified and capable teacher and is in training as a priest. She has wide experience with teenagers and has worked with the homeless and those who have real social problems.
All of us are qualified and trained and authorised by the bishop to do this work. All have been cleared for work with children and vulnerable adults through the Criminal Records Bureau. All have been trained in child protection.
Priests have particular training in being with those who are dying and several of us have experience in bereavement care.
We happily work with, or in cooperation with, others in our community who have valuable community or pastoral roles. The Link scheme is notable amongst them.
Home Communions
We regularly take people communion in their homes or nursing homes if they cannot get to church. Please let the vicar know if you would like that.
Residential Care
A number of our congregation or valley residents are in various forms of sheltered housing or nursing homes. You still belong to us and if we know where you are, we will visit.
Requests for Prayer
We will always pray for you or any you know who would like it. Both St Andrews and All Saints have a book in which to write those requests if you do not see us.
